Dr. James Hyland was born in Ireland and moved to Canada in 1957. At age 13 he decided to be a dentist. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and has taught at George Brown College, Seneca College, and the University of Toronto. He started in private practice in 1976 and began setting the standard by being one of the first dentists in Canada to sure the Caulk curing light, the first in Ontario to place computers in treatment rooms, use air abrasion, and use the Waterless. In 2006 he was the first dentist to start at an Oravital breath clinic and adapted it to include perio treatment using microbiological testing of biofilms. Dr. Hyland continues to be a trend-setter in dentistry by continually implementing the latest technologies and combining them with the Culture of Success espoused in the Crown Council.
